Night Diving At The Frederiksted Pier

The Frederiksted Pier is a must see night dive while visiting St. Croix.  The pillars of the new and old Pier make it an ideal shelter for animals to rest like Sea Turtles, Porcupinefish, and Parrotfish.  Or a perfect place to feast for Octopuses, Eels, and Crabs seen regularly out and about.  But some divers think the real “stars” of our night dives are the elusive Seahorses and Frogfish!

Ambient light from the Pier’s overhead lights provides a more relaxed dive for first-time night divers and newly certified divers.  And the average depth of 35 feet allows for a longer bottom time to enjoy all that the Pier has to offer.  While an Advanced certification is not required, divers must be Open Water certified to dive the Pier at night.

If you have the time, we highly recommend diving the Pier in the day and at night to experience the best of both worlds! You’ll be surprised at the difference in wildlife on each dive. You can book a guided afternoon dive of the Pier, then enjoy an early dinner at one of Frederiksted’s nearby restaurants, before returning to the shop at sunset for a guided night dive!
